Amazing book. The story takes place in a world in which time travel is a reality, yet the relationship between Blue and Red unfolds by handwritten letters. And these letters follow an unbelievable lyrical, almost poetically style.

I guess that one reason why this worked so well is the way Gladstone and El-Mohtar wrote the letters as detailed in this post:

In interviews, Gladstone and El-Mohtar say that while they worked to an overall plot structure, the reactions of each character were developed with a genuine element of surprise on receiving each letter, and the scenes accompanying them were written using that emotional response.
